Home décor is stemmed from interior decorating that dates back to early eighteenth century. In Western Europe during this time period, the desire to have a visually appealing home grew in importance. The role of contractor for interior design was usually filled with an upholsterer who had some general knowledge about design and art. In today’s world there are careers devoted to designing homes so that they can look appealing on both the in and outside.
This continued to grow in importance throughout history. Careers began forming during the nineteenth century that revolved directly with interior design. The job included, but not limited to, looking into the interior art, door handles and fire-irons. During the 1830’s the interior designers were responsible for the revival of the gothic style of architecture.
Higher education for the field of interior designer usually lasts about five years leading up to a diploma. Many televisions shows have to do with interior design and home décor. Shows such as trading spaces show teams coming together to use interior design to create a room that is visually appealing compared to its original style.
